January 10

Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.” Luke 12:5

Most of the 1100+ people who attended this morning will have no idea how many people served so diligently in order for them to have an encounter with God this morning. Beyond our staff who work all week there are countless volunteers who serve faithfully each Sunday.

Today I'd like to highlight the set-up and take down teams at our Hampstead Campus. These folks endured some tough conditions this morning from the weather that was lousy to a truck that wouldn't start to an audio glitch that was beyond their control. And through it all they persevered and served so that the folks attending in Hampstead could have a great experience. Thank you to ALL our great volunteers!

If you know some volunteers who we should all appreciate please share them and their stories below.

  1. Chuck and Terry Smith are the head of the Greeters ministry in Hampstead, but they do so much more. Each week they are there early and help with the set up, cheerfully pitching in wherever they are needed. They are so friendly and kind to everyone who comes through the doors. Because of them, and others like them, many people feel at home at Crossroads. I'm so grateful for them!!

  2. I learned from my husband this week that Mark Hughes drives from Taneytown to Hampstead every Sunday to be a part of the set up team. Part of his job involves climbing onto the roof of NCHS to place what we need for improved streaming, which he created. He does this every single week in all kinds of weather. Kathy Hughes was at Westminster campus this Sunday on worship. Jim P, I am sure you have way more to add! They both serve so humbly.

  3. Way to go guys. It sounds like the good old days. Thanks to that dedicated crew in Hampstead, someday and right now, we are going to look back and say because of God using them and their dedication, many families and lives have been changed for ever.

  4. It was neat to hear stories this morning from our first Discover Crossroads class of people being drawn to Christ through Crossroads. Also, thanking God for safe travels as Rebecca and I just arrived after a day of driving to our first stop in Lumberton, NC. We will arrive to SCAD tomorrow.
